Why is there a plastic piece on the bulb base and glass housing for my B11 and T6 LED Filament Bulb?

The T6 and B11 LED Filament Bulb with the E12 candelabra base contains a neoprene gasket ringing the bulb base and the bottom of the bulb. Please do not attempt to remove this. It is designed to help seat the metal base in the socket and protect the glass housing.
